In order to program PICs, EEproms and other MCUs, they have to be connected to MAKInterface. There are several opportunities for establishing the connection:
The IC-Testclips and Probe-IT clips are directly connected to MAKInterface, using a cable and a 10 pole connector. |

The advantage of the IC-Testclips and Probe-IT clips is, that in many cases serial EEproms and PIC16F84 can be can programmed in circuit, without desoldering. Whether this will be possible or not, depends on the circuit design, where the EEprom is located. Pinouts for various devices are given in the Support menu. In the Support menu also the Jumper Settings of MAKInterface Pro for PonyProg and IC-Prog are described. | ||||||
DIP IC Testclip 16 pole Goldplated, low-cost IC-testclip with 2*8=16 pole. This testclip is in most cases not suitable to be used for In-Circuit programming, because it is too wide. But it is a good solution for programming of desoldered PIC16F84 and serial EEproms. |

Probe-IT Clip Sets These plunger-actuated clips make test connections to individual component leads faster and easier. Simply by pressing the cap of the Probe-IT the contact hook is extended. After placing it on the component lead and then releasing, contact will be established. Shortenings are prevented because the contact hook is always sheated in the nylon body of the Probe-IT clip.
DIP-Plunger-Clip In case, only DIP-elements will be programmed, we do recommend the DIP-Plunger-Clip. |

SMD-Plunger-Clip Set
The SMD-Plunger-Clip Set provides highest flexibility for establishing connections to almost any IC housing: DIP, SMD, PLCC, ... ICs with various dimensions and number of pins can be connected - 8 pole I2C EEprom 24C16 or 40 pole AT90S8515 - the connection is established very quick and easy.

In the normal position the two hooks are inside and do establish a contact to the pin |
By pressing the cap of the SMD-Plunger-Clip the contact hook is extended |
On any SMD-Plunger-Clip two cables can be connected |

In case of a normal connection, only one cable is connected. |
When using halfduplex protokolls (I2C, PIC, ...) two cables can be used in order to connect Data-In und Data-Out channels. So it is not neccessary to connect two clips to one pin. |
The SMD-Plunger-Clip enables the connection of the pins to MAKInterface for a great quantity of various IC housings. |

DIP ICs can be connected to the lower end of the pin ... |
... or to the top end of the pin, in case the IC is placed on a PCB |

Pins of SMD ICs can also be accessed without problems |
The hooks of the clips are so thin that shortening of two neighboured pins is almost impossible |

Even PLCC ICs can be connected with IC testclips |
Also two neighboured contacts, as necessary in case of 68HC11 |

Connection cable The connection cable is used to connect the DIP and SMD Testclips with MAKInterface. On every wire there is a female connector which is easy attached on the standard 0.64mm square pins.
On the wires 2 (RX) and 5 (CTS) is a additional standard 0.64mm square pin, so also halfduplex connections (required for I2C) can be established. |
